Outreach from FENAC
The Forum is currently involved in three educational outreach projects:

The SPARC program is designed to increase interest and enthusiasm among precollege students for science, especially biomedical, biological and behavioral sciences. The SPARC program has worked with middle school and high school science and math teachers in the city of Camden, New Jersey, and has helped support science instruction in the Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School, the first magnet school in Camden. The Medical Arts High School will celebrate the graduation of its first class this June. SPARC has acquired or created a variety of instructional resources for use in pre-college education.

Project VILLAGE is a collaborative effort with the Board of Education of the City of Camden. The goal of Project VILLAGE is to take advantage of information technology to increase the educational and informational resources available to the residents of Camden, NJ. The Board of Education will serve as the hub for an information network involving public, private and parochial schools, the Camden City public library, the Camden Community Centers. Rutgers University and members of the Forum will provide training of community agency staff and of teachers in use of the Internet.

The KHULA Project is a collaborative effort involving Rutgers University, Lucent Technologies, and 3 universities in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The word "Khula" is a Xhosa word that means "to grow, to develop, to expand", and the KHULA Project is designed to enhance the teaching of pre-college science in one of the poorest provinces in South Africa.
